Rocktober

The honeymoon period is over and the days are getting shorter. Time to infuse joy and start Rocktober. My school started Rocktober because we decided to reject the idea that October has to be difficult. We decided to reframe Darktober into Rocktober. Below you will find a list of ideas and ways to infuse joy into your class and school:

• Send a handwritten card or postcard to a student or colleague

• Shout out students or colleagues on social media, in a newsletter or a mailing

• Leave a teacher’s favorite snack on his/her desk

• Create a gratitude email chain

• Make team shirts

• Spirit Day

• Create special yard signs for teachers or students

• Props (silly hats, headbands, finger lights etc.)

• Cancel a meeting

• Thankful Thursdays - Express gratitude to a teammate, family member or student that helped you

• Happy Hour from Sonic (With the App it is always Happy Hour)

• Classroom Room Service - Delivery teacher’s their favorite treat
